Our Journey Home

Ever heard of the phrase "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"?  Well, to me this is the perfect saying to explain how our attitude and perspective can make us or break us!  As some of you know I love rain, I love thunder and lightening, I could live in a place where it rained everyday!  Some people hate it and instead love the sunshine!  I love the sunshine too, but for me, the rain is my sunshine much of the time!  I can't really explain it, but that is how I have always been!  Rain reminds me of curling up in a soft blanket with a book, hot cocoa, baking, and pretty much anything comforting!  Yes, that's it there is something comforting about it!  It reminds me of purity and cleanliness.  The rain clears the air and cleanses the earth!  I love the earthy smell of rain, it's one of my favorites.  The thunder and lightening remind me that there is always something bigger than myself out there, that the powers that be are greater than me .  It re

An Extroverted Introvert

When I was 5 years old, in Kindergarten, I came home with a report card that said "N in self control".  You could probably guess what the "N" meant, "Needs Improvement".  My sister has never let me live it down!  I mean, come on, who judges the self control of a 5 year old,  haha! I had 4 or 5 friends in my class, and we would talk and laugh and on occassion disrupt.  I always felt like an outsider when I was outside this little group of friends.  I had no desire to be social except with them.  In my mind I had no need for anymore friends, they were enough. I have always been a very shy person and have never really been good at approaching people.  I'm not a huge fan of large groups and lots of people.  The mention of group projects at school or group lessons at church is always accompanied by an eye roll and a disappointing sigh.  Let's be honest, the phrase "we are going to split up into groups for this lesson", is code for "I

There are just certain things that go together, like peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter and chocolate, pie and ice cream, salty and sweet, milk and cereal, meat and potatoes, cookies and milk, and ice cold lemonade on a hot day!  Another pair that went well together was Haley and Ashley!   We are going to stroll down the lane of my once upon a time, or my long past to a time when fanny packs were cool (I'm sporting one to the left), cassette tapes, and some pretty cool electronic/robotic toys!  I could not write about my life without writing about a certain person who was always with me throughout my childhood.  This person was my BEST FRIEND!  Just to illustrate our relationship a little, the term "best friend" is an understatement!  She was like a twin sister I never had.  We were joined at the hip most of our childhood.  We met at age 4, she lived across the street from me.  I don't remember our first meeting, but because her mom took a picture of us dancin

Crush at first sight

This past week I have been listening to a book series written by one of my high school friends.  The Ridge Water High Series by Judy Corry has inspired this post.  While listening I could see her personality shining through and some of the things she incorporated into these books reminded me of my high school experience!  High school, a place full of excitement, drama, and rogue hormones, a great place to start a soapy story!  It made me think of my first major crush that I couldn't get over for a long time. Scene of the crush at first sight: 8th grade, 8th period, history class, well I think it was a history class.  Him and his good friend sat behind me and my good friend.  He was one of the cutest boys I had ever seen, and he was nice to me, and funny.  During that year we developed a school friendship, or an 8th period friendship.  His good friend became one of my closest friends throughout high school as well.  Any way he was tall, dark and handsome, sort of.  Light bro
